Barbara Comstock Morse began the training and implementation of AVID strategies in 2018. As pioneers, we were one of the first sites in Elk Grove Unified to adopt this program at the elementary level. We are currently working toward our full certification and recognition as an AVID site. In the meantime, we will continue to build essential college preparatory skills like time management, successful study habits, goal setting, notetaking, organization, and awareness of college and career opportunities. In the classroom, students will be engaged in rigorous and collaborative learning opportunities that promote critical thinking and problem-solving. The (AVID) Advancement Via Individual Determination focus supports our school motto, “Go to BCM, Go to College.”
